For the same reason I shifted from sify to bsnl broadband. Sify
Narrowband(32-64 kbps if u call broadband) is most unreliable & the
wiring they have done is haphazard runs over 440-230volts line in most
places & over trees.. So far i have changed three ethernet cards due
to sify.
Bsnl Broadnabd though has minor problem some times, is giving
consistently between 256kbps to 300kbps. For a change a govenment
complany is doing well.

We have been one of the unfortunate consumer, who had opted for the SIFY
broadband. We got the connection through their franchisee, Mr Venkatesan,
who was/is a cable TV distributer.
We were shocked on 09/12/04 to find that our server, the monitor connected
to the server, the harddisks and mother board of the server, the printer
connected to the server and our own microprocessor based boards connected
to the same MCB, and the MCB- all of them failed after smoke and some
explosive noise.
