Make sure that you dont share / and /usr and /var partitions.  [assuming 
that / partition hosts the directories /etc, /lib, /sbin directories]. 
Sharing the same users and groups could mean sharing a common /etc 
directory... which in my opinion can raise other complicated issues 
[imagine having to manage a common sysinit scripts for both your distros!].


There should not be any problem. I have done this sometime back.  I
shared the /home, /tmp and SWAP partitions. The data is
/etc/{passwd,shadow,group,gshadow} need to be in sync.
