I have installed Fedora Core 5 in my machine. I have problems in
installing new packages. There is a something called Application and
software install in the applications menu in Gnome desktop, but when I
try to run it as root it gives the error: Unable to get package list
and the application closes.
I tried to put
$yum list
but this also gives the following error,
core package not found.
How to solve this problem. I did the installation using FC5 cds. Is
there any post installation procedure that we have to do in order to
update the package list in fedora, like what we do in debian. Is there
any other utilities in fedora to install new software packages like
dselect, apt-get, aptitude, etc as in debian.
