Hi,
I have two computers separated by a distance of 500m, can I use two
adsl modems (which I already have) to connect them using a simple
phone cable back to back.
The adsl modems have ethernet port.

IMHO, 500m crossover cable can connect,,
ethernet may require a repeater. ? Another possibility - a serial
connection (null modem) using twisted pair (shielded if you can afford
it). ?One computer is the client, the other is the server. ?TCP/IP
stack over PPP connection.
