Subject: [Ilugc] Mirroring Deb packages!
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.4.44.0212271136440.2458-100000@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi ,
We have planned to set up a deb mirror site. So, i was on the deb site
recently. And u know guys there was a beaming smile on my face while i was
seeing iit featuring on the deb mirror list. But a bit unhappy that we have
only one deb mirror in india.
Currently we have planned to be a private mirror, but i will speak with
my people to get it featured in the deb mirror list.
I have done some homework on this, and i hope people would go through
it and respond with their suggestions.
* Space allocated 2.0 GB
* Mirroring only i386 binary packages.
* Gona to use rsync, as it seems to be the widely used one.
Now i havn't evaluated the best mirror server, from where i could mirror.
So, if you guys have any tool to evaulate the best mirror, please let
me know.
And i do have the deb woody 3.0 cds, so i think i could copy the
binaries from that, and start mirroring. Instead of starting from scratch.
That's it.
TIA.
Bye and take care.
uday.
