Hi all,
IMHO most of the curriculum offered as FOSS is counter productive
based on a outdated syllabus. It didnt help in moving people to Linux
and for even people who were introduced to Linux it was tiresome.
The elective mode, in a sense, came due to the university regulations --if i
remember correctly, in Anna University, a new subject has to be introduced
first as an elective.
The first FOSS elective CS1023 Free/Open Source Software was introduced in
2005-06. It has been widely agreed that it needs significant revision.
The second elective "CS1024 Enterprise Application Development using FOSS" has
been found to be more acceptable.
The two autonomous colleges -- TCE and PSG have come up with their own
versions of FOSS electives. The syllabus, course materials, etc. are
