the information in the footer is not there in the header, as far as i can
see. we do have newbies who might find the footer useful yet we do get our
share of 'unsubscribe's posted to the list. incidentally, '-- ' (and not
'--') is per rfc the separator for the signature. there is no 'standard'
footer separator (if there is, someone please point me to it). mailman is
inserting the line of underscores as the separator for the footer. if we
use '-- ' as the separator for the footer also, when using quoted reply,
only the footer will get removed and not the signature. all this is beside
the point. if the list feels that the footer may be removed, i will be
happy to do so.
