I found GARNOME to be a _fast_ way to get a working G2D without
upgrading to the latest distroes. So, possibly you could just distribute
the tarballs. (about 70MB)
How fast ? It took me about three hours to compile everything.

PS: If you are going to be using GARNOME, its a good idea to read the
GARNOME list archives. It covers almost every kind of problem. (esp.
xft2)
