They did not advertise proprietary software on this list. No more than you
are advertising GMail. Infact, since you clearly mention @gmail.com id in
your mail signature, you are advertising proprietary software more than the
original post that leads you to a website which has a FAQ where proprietary
is mentioned.

I believe this is an extraneous discussion, initiated by you.
