Hardware Requirements (2 Servers)
-------------------------------------------
Server Motherboard supporting Core 2-QUAD Processor (64-bit)
Motherboards will cost around
4 GB RAM
500GB / 1 TB HDD (Sata/SaS)
1TB WD/Seagate Enterprise edition cost is about Rs. 10K/each
(Suggest 2 disks for sw RAID1 configuration)
DDR3 2GB RAM stick (unbuffered non-ECC) is about Rs. 3200/- (Kingston)
Intel server motheboard is about Rs. 10K (suggest Tyan/Supermicro as
server motherboard options besides Intel)
Xeon quad core CPU (2.4GHz) is about Rs. 10K/- (I believe AMD server
CPUs are probably in the same ball park)
(I have a Core 2 Quad as well as Xeon Quad - running KVM on both. I
wish I had not bought the Core 2 Quad - it is a desktop CPU; go with a
server CPU Xeon or AMD equivalent)
A server class VIP cabinet with 650W SMPS cost is about Rs. 6K/-
I use a LaCie external DVDWriter (USB 2.0) that is shared amongst all
servers/desktops; cost about Rs. 4K (worth it)
(when not in use, I store it in dust proof packing - lost several
internal units because of dust)
My two cents.
