If the college is interested, we are ready to implement the complete LTSP
setup, providing the complete upcoming Fedora-13 (or) Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Distro repo. without looking for any commercial interest.
how much would it cost for a lab with 60 systems - all they need is office,
mail
and internet browsing and decent speed. (I will contact you offlist for your
fees) but I want the cost discussion on list so that we can all get an idea if
this type of thing comes in future - and it will come as a 60 computer lab is
an AICTE requirement.
The cost details were got from www.deltapage.com
Hardware Requirements (for 60 Clients)
----------------------------------------------
Intel ATOM Board + Processor 1.6 GHz -- Rs. 2950/-
1 GB DDR2 (Dynet / Hynix) - Rs. 1150/-
i-Ball Cabinet (NetTop-009) - Rs.1,500/-
LG LCD Monitor 17" (177USB) - Rs.5950/-
Logitech Keyboard (USB) - Rs.425
Logitech Mouse (Optical/USB) - Rs.375
Instead of having one Single high end server connecting 60 clients, it is
suggested to have 2 Medium sized configuration for LTSP servers, serving 30
clients each.
Hardware Requirements (2 Servers)
-------------------------------------------
Server Motherboard supporting Core 2-QUAD Processor (64-bit)
4 GB RAM
500GB / 1 TB HDD (Sata/SaS)
DVD-RW Drive
Networking cost and any other stuffs will be as per the requirement.
