All I have to say is that once a person knows GNU/Linux he can handle
MicroSick easily. That's my personal opinion. Its like going to a
backward technology ;).
You can do it all the time.
Also I dont think if ppl are asked in a job interview to work on MS
products they would answer in a sense that they would lose their
freedom. They would be there to get the job. Not assert wat they are
ready to work in.
Once they display there capabilities in these organizations they can
always stress there freedom and get the conversion done.
Supposing the company has a problem with viruses regarding MS Office
frequently (which it of course will) . The new employee can just
suggest OO.o and if it is accepted he gets to use what he always
wanted.
All said and done, I would say teach them only GNU/Linux and they will
find MS kid's play.
I personally still use OO.o in MS Windoze to create documents which
have to be shared with others because of the page size difference in
Linux and MS. But that's about all I do there now. Have to use it in
college labs at times. These are the things I can change and am trying
to.
But I wouldnt complain about working on it when I join a company.
Because then it is not my choice. It is my employers. And it is not
his either. It is his client's I guess ;). But leaving all that aprt
the point is none of us who work on GNU/ Linux are incapable of
working on MS tech. It is because of our experiences with Linux that
MS becomes a walk in the park.
P.S. : I personally know ppl who think GNU/Linux is difficult to
handle and keep running around to find solutions to problems thay face
in MS and even come to me at times for that. The point is these guys
use it for so much time but still know nothing about it. But we ppl
know the system inside out with GNU/Linux. It just takes minutes to
solve problems these guys spend hours putting the wrong approach to.
Real World Example: NTLDR in Primary C: NTFS Win XP blows up due to
2-3 illegal shut downs. Somehow it manages to toggle the Active boot
status to off for the partition which I dont know how. Guy spends
night to figure out things even creating new partition and formatting
with Seagate Disk Manager to No Avail. Hard Disk does not get detected
by Win CD and set up keeps hanging. Guy gets worried and scared about
his new PC thinking it has to be trashed. He calls in *experts* who do
the magic with Seagate DM to no avail. Anyway guy calls me. Boot with
the Linux Floppy Disk. Set boot staus for hda1. Bingo. Win install CD
takes the disk. My fees. An installation of OO.o and Firefox. Guy is
happy. I may get to install FC2 on his system too.
So there is no second opinion about this. Both my heart and my mind
tell me that these ppl should be taught GNU/Linux.
