Friends

Yesterday, I wanted to install linux on a brand new high end PC.
Configuration is

Intel Duo core Processor
Intel DG965RY board
Hitachi Deskstar Sata2 Hard disk
DDR2 512MB RAM

oops.

I tried FC6, ubuntu 6.10, OpenSuse 10.2, Debian Etch testing.
No linux can be installed.

All linux distros hanged in the stage of hardware detection.

After a google, got this link

http://www.blindedbytech.com/2006/11/10/how-to-install-fedora-core-6-on-intel-dg965ss-motherboard/

I got the same errors the blogger get and I folloed him.
Great.
FC6 installed nicely in that machine.

The reason is that the linux kernal 2.6.17 do not have latest
device drivers.
FC6 has got 2.6.18.
And with some hacks in BIOS, FC6 installs nicely.

Debian installer is now using 2.6.18 kernel if you use net install.
Alternatively debian-testing-cd 1 with kde instead of gnome has
2.6.18
kernel.
