I would say go in for Debian . I wouldnt prefer Gentoo coz you need to
compile packages although emerge is there but still i would say Debian
.In fact Get Ubuntu rather than installing Debian Sarge or Woody.
Ubuntu is perfect. This month's Linux For You Magazine has Ubuntu ISOs
or you could also order Ubuntu from the web site for free or log on to
http://www.chennailug.org/wiki/CDs_for_Grab for Ubuntu Cds.
For a detailed review on Ubuntu log on to www.osnews.com which has a
crisp and solid review of Ubuntu.

Hello frnds,
i just wanted ur options on GNU Linux distributions for laptops..
i am thinkin to upgrade my OS,
i have good knoledge on using nad hacking linux, so. which is a better
distribution to go which supports all features of laptop like irda,
power management etc..... (presently my irda is not workin in FC2),
shall i go to fc3, or gentoo or debian, or mandrake 10.
whats ur opinion abt debian...
