Hello LUGies,
Mr. Srinivasan of NRCFOSS and Myself made a trip to Layola college today
and had a small interactive session with students of MCA dept. (Computer
Science Dept). The students as well as the HOD & Faculty are very much
eager to take up FOSS activities and wish at least a few students could
take up some really worthy projects in FOSS as they have a 6 month
project period.
As SFD is very near, we suggested them to formally open up a 'GNU/Linux
club' on the Software Freedom Day. The HOD said he will invite all other
departments that are interested in FOSS, like Statistics,
Bioinformatics, etc., to join this initiative. In addtion, as from
NRCFOSS we are ready to offer projects for the students who are
interested in doing. The SFD will be the starting point for them to
focus on FOSS.
We, in regards to the SFD at Layola, need a speaker to speak on the
occasion as they are starting up a GNU/Linux club on the day. Will
discuss more about this, in our coming LUG meet this saturday at IITM.
If posible I invite the HOD, Dept. of Computer Science, Layola college
to join us this saturday at our monthly LUG meet, held at IIT-Madras :)
