I am have been trying to download Kubunty Fiesty Fawn DVD for the past
couple of weeks. Initially, only the Torrent version was available,
and I tried downloading using KTorrent. I wasn't happy with it, as I
couldn't schedule the downloads between 2 AM and 8 AM. I then switched
to Azures. It did a good job, but, I had the download directory
pointed towards a FAT32 file system. Kubuntu ISO is 4.3 GB :-). I
cleaned up my EXT3 FS for download again. Torrent isn't all that fast
and many times, I couldn't find seeders.
By then the DVD ISO was available for download from FTP mirrors. AXEL
which did a great job of downloading the the CD version at 150 KBPS,
failed miserably by reporting the following

Crappy filesystem/OS.. Working around. :-(

I got the same error for both EXT3 and VFAT
I tried the good old wget with a cron job. it works but at 6 KBPS.
I downloaded prozilla source-code and compiled it. It now has a decent
speed of 60 KBPS. But, i am not able to provide more than one mirror
URL to prozilla. It does an automatic search with LYCOS for alternate
FTP URLs. But the internal search doe not return anything. There is no
way for me to supply my own list of URLs. Moreover, it cant accept
multiple HTTP URLs.
Is there any easier way to download faster using accelerators? one of
the main criteria is that, I have to start it using a CRON job and
kill it using another CRON job. (2AM to 8 AM limits).
In simple words: how do you download such huge files with a BSNL BB?
