Hello all,
I have connected my netbook (running
Debian 6) to my Nokia handset (BSNL 3G) for net browsing with
bluetooth.
Step 1: Connect phone to netbook
(follow steps in system > Preferences > Bluetooth > setup
new device)
Step 2: Find Mac address of phone and
channel for Dial-up networking (DUN)
$ hcitool scan
$ sdptool browse 00:2B:1C:A1:DB:C4
Step 3: Ping mac address to see if
connected / alive
$l2ping 00:2B:1C:A1:DB:C4
Step 4: Create rfcomm0 in /dev/ by
editing preexisting file /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf
Step 5: Create configuration file for
establishing connection (edit prexisitng configuration file
/etc/ppp/peers/provider)
Step 6: Edit chatscript file
/etc/chatscripts/pap
Step 7: Restart netbook
Step 8: Start connection ?pon
provider?. Start internet browser.
Step 9: To disconnect ?poff provider?
I am facing problem at step 3. Whenever
I try to ping phone it aborts by saying ?Can't connect: host is
down?. I am unable to start conncetion with ?pon provider?.
Only after forcing netbook to connect / revive-the-connection with
phone (by sending a small file, with bluetooth to phone, when it
connects and transfers data successfully) I am able to ping
successfully / initiate conncetion with ?pon provider?. However,
once established, internet connection runs without hindrance. Any
repeat attempts to connect again have to go through the same ritual
of forcing netbook to revive the connection with phone.
Is there any way I can bring the
bluetooth conncetion to life without having having to send a small
dummy file from netbook to phone over and over again?
