here i would like to add that the UNIX philo can be forked into the
AT&T philo and the MIT philo.
the hackers at AT&T believed that every program in UNIX should
do one task and do it well, while ppl at MIT (RMS et.al) believ(ed/s)
in writing programs which would do multiple tasks, even if it affected
size of the code! ( reminds u of emacs ? ;) )
