what do you mean by "ethernet modem"
The modem which is given to me is an USB DSL modem
Model seems to be "Beetel 100 CX".
This seems to be the only modem they are providing now.
Is there any other way to get a modem from the market
that suits both linux and airtel fine...
do you mean a router by ethernet modem ? .....

I'm running FC3 on an Airtel DSL connection and had zero problems
getting the ethernet modem up and running. (In fact, from install to
connect, it took about 10 minutes)
