Thanks so much for bringing this to the fore, Kerri. Very important to point out... and very much appreciated!Your message brings up a question that I'd love to pursue–how do we define practical labor? The name of our organization is very much a protest (at least, from my perspective) against a forced equation between practicality and cash money.
But how do we define practicality? Why do we embrace the impractical? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts... Hello Impractical Laborers-I generally try to avoid getting on a soapbox online, but I feel as though the context of this group makes important to point out that both UPS and USPS have unionized workers. Fedex does not. While it may be cheaper to send your items Fedex, when you pay more at UPS, you are supporting practical laborers. As organization that styles itself after labor unions, perhaps we should do our best to make ethical choices when we have the option.Best, Kerri Local 205 Shop LL
