Hal, here’s a list of relevant No. Canada repts.:
http://www.barbau.ca/content/northern-river-basins-study-project
And in particular, this rept.:
Walder, G.L., ed. 1996. Proceedings of the Northern River Basins Study: Instream
Flow Needs Workshop. Northern River Basins Study Project Report 66: 196
pp.
And esp. this chapter:
Bovee, K.D. 1996. Managing instream flows for biodiversity: a conceptual model
and hypotheses. Northern River Basins Study Project Report 66: 83-100 (http:// ;
www.barbau.ca/sites/www.barbau.ca/files/0-662-24830-9.pdf).
Ken’s paper deals w/ providing flow regimes that promote habitat diversity, w/
presumed benefits to aquatic biodiversity. So it’s a step in right direction
towards ecosystem mgmt.

FYI - Some of you may have relevant grey literature, so I thought I would
forward to IFC members. The paper Dudley is referring to is what I had been
planning to present had we met in Missouri last spring - a case study where we
set an instream flow for a small hydro using PHABSIM output interpreted with
hydrology & life history, then monitoring the trout population before and
during project operation.

Gentleman - having heard of the recent acceptance by Fisheries of your paper, I
am passing along the attached request for information regarding fish abundance
and diversity changes to responses to changes in flow magnitude. Seems like
your paper may be especially relevant to this request.
Best regards
Dudley
