Here's our final WDAFS paper, which is independent of my WDFW work, esp. w/ a
riparian focus (& we mention flow regimes, too). Although aquatic-oriented, we
do mention birds, too:
Hughes, R.M., and R.L. Vadas, Jr. 2021. Agricultural effects on streams and
rivers: a western USA focus. Water [online] 13(14): 1901
(https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4441/13/14/1901).
FYI, here's my quarterly rept. associated w/ it:
Farmland/Riparian Scientific Paper: Volunteering for the Resource Policy &
Environmental Concerns Committee of the American Fisheries Society's Western
Division, Vadas coauthored an article for the western USA in the e-journal
'Water (available at https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4441/13/14/1901). We emphasized
the need to focus on biotic and groundwater variables, rather than just surface
water-quality parameters that tend to overestimate riparian-buffer
effectiveness for aquatic-ecosystem protection.
