Thanks george, I didn't know that button would do a report. There are shapes on shape. Since it isn;t my board I won't mess with whatever they are trying to do. Thanks for all who answered.

Sam,

Go to "Setup > Drawing options" and click the "Out of date shapes" button (which should be red).  A report will pop up of ALL the shapes and their states.  Look for the shapes that are not marked smooth, zoom in and click on the coordinate to go to the error.  See Jean's graphic.

What I have seen very often is that a smaller shape without a net gets placed under a large one with a net.  The smaller shape disappears and is marked out-of-date.  Torn on the "Boundary" in the stack-up and make it a high priority color, makes it easier to see when this has happened.

Thanks Jean, its checked.

Does it matter with gerber device type i use? Gerber 6x00 -vs- gerber rs274x. Using drawing options it seems to run but when i try running artwork, the update shape button remains.

I think this happens when shapes are on top of each other.
Thanks Sam

Sam,
Check out Setup > Drawing Options, near the bottom. Make sure the “Smooth” radio button is selected. I’m guessing it’s not. If not, select it, then select the “Update to Smooth” option, save the board, and you should be in good shape.

Group:
I'm reviewing a layout and I wanted to create gerbers for board, I get error "dynamic shapes need updating". This board has negative planes. I tried using rs274x but i get another error message. Is there a specific device type I need to enable to do negative planes? The update dynamic planes is not working.
Any help would be appreciated.

thanks, Sam
