That would be /tmp, or maybe /usr/tmp to a REAL unixen, Mitch.

Only thing I can think of is if it's a PC vs. Unix issue. The 14.2
translator might have been ported to Windoze, and something was changed so
Unix wouldn't work. It's a stretch though. One other thing, your directory
structure is WAY deep. Sometimes that causes problems. Try directing it to
say, /temp and see if it improves.
