[PCB_FORUM] Re: PADS translation

Using Allegro 14.2 on Unix.
I let the system create the pads_in.ini file.
Cleaned up any NO_MAP lines.

Basicly, the system hangs, saying writing database.

I end up killing the process.

The dialog box says "Error - a problem has occured, please check the log file.

Look at log file - no mention of Error.

Can't find a database anywhere.

Thanks for any help you can give.

no, it's not normal. Should take maybe 3-5 minutes MAX. Are you using the
default pads.ini file in the cadence install dir or did you create one of
your own? also, are you using v15? before v15 and maybe even before v15.2
it wouldn't take a v5.0 PADS ascii file. You might have to change the
header line on the PADS ascii file, and call out a 3.5 or earlier version
of PADS. Simple to do, it's in the first line. Make it either 3.0 or 3.5

Should go quite fast though. Good luck.

Mitch

This is my first, be gentle.

I got a board translating as I type.
This thing has about 2000 pins, 150 parts
10 layers.

How long does the translation take to run?

This has been running for 40 min.?

Is this normal?
