 Cheryl.
I would like to know how you do this, I've been placing all pins on sch parts
even the NC's. I use Orcad with Allegro. My understanding was I had to show all
pins.

There is not need to even put pin 2 on your symbol. Just put 1 and 3.
Or you can place a no connect X on the pin to get rid of the box and show
the no connect.

Try This
1. Open the Symbol
2. Say the no-connect is pin 2 of the Sot23, add the following property
to the symbol:
Name Value
NC 2
3. Save the symbol and up date the design
4. Run the netlist, the footprint should now place without the Pin

The format for multiple NC pins is 2,3,4,5 etc.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Making NCs invisible in Orcad?

Hello All,

I do not want no-connect pins to be visible in my Orcad schematics.
Currently, my best solution is to use zero-length lines for pins like
NC1, NC2, NC3, etc. On ICs it's not so bad because its nice sometimes
to be able to verify that a pin is in fact a no connect.

But, having a "you haven't connected a pin" square show up on my diode
symbol is driving me nuts. The schematic symbol looks like a
2-terminal diode, but the footprint is an sot-23. I want the damn NC
pin to go away on the schematic! Any help on this?

Thanks, Ray
