Lynn, Not sure I can help out with the original question either. But I do know (and have experienced) that having a large ptf file size will cause Concept to slow down tremendously. We use a few ptf files for all categories instead of the individual single-line ptf entries for each part. I determined that one ptf file was causing the program to slow down (over 90 sec. for Concept just to come up and about the same amount of time for the component browser to come up). The solution was to remove unused parts/split the file into two files to decrease the file size and that helped with the speed. We are exploring doing just the opposite -moving all cell ptf to a library ptf due to a new application that we are looking into. I used to have a couple of library level PPTs when I used Scald, but I don't know if the rules have changed. Any help would be appreciated! -directory structure, files needed, syntax, pointers etc. or is it just a matter of copying all the ptf entries into one (or more) ptf files like I did in scald? So far I've got one created with about 5 parts and it works fine. Does anyone know if there are any limitations to the amount of symbols/file size or if there will be any problems (response time or other) if we put all of our ptf files into 1 file. I'm using 15.51 on a Sun box and this is my directory structure; /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/new_library/sch/ cdpas/cap_pol /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/new_library/sch/ cdpas/capacitor /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/new_library/ptf/ cdpas.ptf (This file contains ptf listings for both cap_pol and capacitor. This is what we want to separate into ptf directories under the symbol directories.) The following is the command and response I receive; lib2cellptf -product "PCB_LIBRARIAN_EXPERT" -cdslib ./cds.lib -ptffile /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/new_library/ptf/ cdpas.ptf -cell /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/new_library/sch/ cdpas I: License PCB_librarian_expert checked out I: Opening project /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/temp_proj.cpm I: Cdslib /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/cds.lib opened I: Project /home/raid2/pmayer/cadence/library_development/ptf2cell/temp_proj.cpm opened And then nothing happens... all the files are the same and in the same place except I do get an empty temp directory, an empty temp_proj.cpm, and a lib2cellptf.log with the following contents; Library Level PTF to Cell Level PTF Convertor Library Name Cell Name PTF Written I was expecting both cap_pol and capacitor directories to contain a .ptf in a ptf directory. Anyone out there have any insight and/or experience with this?
