Previous queries on the VA ML gave (me) the impression that direct
Draw-with-text to PDF wasn't on.
That impression is false. Generating PDF direct from a drawfile,
whether the drawfile contains text or not, is straightforward.
So in response to Jim above I loaded a drawfile, activated the iconbar
PDF printer and found the possibly relevant menu items: (1) Misc>Print
exhibited PDF and required the printer (2) Save gave only the options
file (=drawfile) and PostScript [94][139]Print, which naturally saved
as a PostScript file.
Without watching over your shoulder, I'm not quite sure what you have
been doing here. The menu options that you quote sound like those
from the application called !PDF (by Chris Gransden et al), which is a
PDF *viewer* rather than a PDF producer.
Before I go into more details, Bob, please check your RiscOS
harddrive. Do you have the following applications on it?
$.!Boot.Resources.!Ghostscr
$.!Boot.Resources.!PDF or $.!Boot.Resources.!PDFtest
$.Printing.!PrintPDF
$.Printing.!PS3
(These pathnames are the standard locations. If your apps live
elsewhere, that's probably OK as long as your system "sees" them.)
I suspect that you are lacking !PrintPDF, which is by Steve Fryatt and
free to download from
http://stevefryatt.org.uk/software The current ;
version is 1.12 (2017-Oct-22).
(PDFsuite, by R-Comp, is a commercial alternative to !PrintPDF.
Current version is 1.09 (date not shown in Plingstore), 20.)
If, perchance, you have !Taborca or !Riscript in the Resources or
Printing directories, move them out of sight (maybe make a directory
called "$.[obsolete]" ).
