As someone who makes recommendations for assistive technology, I've found
this discussion
interesting as it mirrors my own thought process and experiences as a user
and an evaluator.
I had a consumer come through who was not a good braille user, but knew how
to generate characters through the
keypad. He started writing slowly, but his speed increased tremendously as
we went further
along. If you think you want to use this type of input, I'd probably steer
you away from the
braille plus and toward the icon, as the keypad is larger. If, like Chase,
Andy, and myself,
you're a strong braille user with a preference toward that modality, the
Braille Plus is the way
to go. One of the beauties of this "family" of products is the abundance of
options available
to manipulate the machines in terms of keyboard inputs. I'm going to see a
"little person"
next month who I understand is a good braille user and learns technology
well. She may be
a good candidate for the bp.

If I write on the bp for a long period of time, like this particular
message, my hands get
sore and cramped, as I have rather large hands.
