Agenda:
The clock_times clarification BIRD (BIRD222) was submitted. Randy emailed it to
the IBIS list for review. It will be voted on in the open forum this Friday.
The BIRD was written to align with specification 7.2 draft3. If the text of the
specification in this section changes in a later draft, then the BIRD222 might
need to be updated accordingly. Arpad noted that the BIRD, beyond clarifying
the text of the specification, adds some comments that might change the
technical requirements in the specification. A DQS executable must be available
in simulation if a DQ model needs clock times input. The initial specification
of this functionality allowed the EDA tool to assume some clock_times input if
the DQS (clock source) model was not included in the simulation.
A review of the editorial task list shows 2 BIRDs still in process. Michael
Mirmak asked if we should include these BIRDs into the next draft of the
specification with the assumption that they will be approved. The BIRDs should
be approved, but might need some revision before final approval. This would
require extra reference tracking for the final editing of the specification.
Michael suggests waiting until after the open forum meeting where the BIRD
votes will happen. The group agrees with this approach.
Michael presented draft4 of the specification 7.2 to show the latest changes.
These changes were mostly tracking type revisions, such as table of contents
and list of figures. There is one remaining highlighted word regarding retimer
models. Should the description use "1/2 UI" or "1/2 symbol time"? There is
another statement in the text that defines symbol_time as the same as UI. The
group resolved to keep the text as-is.
Michael reported that the template field, Required has some inconsistent usage
in a few keyword descriptions. The clarification of the correct values might
need a BIRD to define. For now, the task group will not change these
descriptions in the text.
Should we hold the task group next week, since it is a short week? There is not
much to discuss, so the task group will meet again in 2 weeks.
Michael will prepare draft4 of the specification to include the 2 in-process
BIRDs. If both BIRDs are approved as submitted then the specification draft can
be presented to the open forum for approval on 9 DEC 2022.
