Sorry for intrudeing. I hope I have a suggestion that might work.
So you want different engines to spend different points and/or different amount
of points when equipped by the unit?
So how about this.
Why not have a skill pertaining to each engine. Use equip_add_skill in the
item file.
When equipped, the skill will affect the unit as you wish. When the item is
removed, it also pulls out the skill that was removed.
So for instance, I will use star trek.
You got impulse engines and warp engines and thrusters. Three ways of moving a
ship.
So the Thrusters use liquid fuel
The impulse uses a solid fuel
And warp uses a crystal fuel.
So, when you equip the thrusters, that skill will use points from the liquid
fuel point, pull the thrusters out, and the skill is removed.
If the ship can move itself without the engines, you can simply have the base
movement skill removed upon the equip.
So these are the equip_add_skills=
Equip_remove_skills=
Hope that helps, and that I explained that correctly.

I have typed it in exactly as it was stated I get no error messages and yet it
does not affect any of my points when I use it
Did I miss something . Ron

Yeah, I believe that would be skillname_pointname_cost_mod, in the item file.

Actually what I'm trying to do is set up where the unit a spaceship has the
ability to equip different types of engines where each engine would have a
different cost of fact to a certain point file for every step the unit
moves
Is that a possibility . Ron

I mean you can also just do point_cost= in the move skill file, if
that's what you want.

A specific point increase or decrease when you take a step? Yes there
is, that's through terrain though. point_step_inflict or
point_step_restore flags for terrain.
There's also a workaround you could do that might work, it's a bit of
a pain in the ass to set up though. But if you want it let me know and
I'll make you some example files.

I am wondering is there a way to set up a pacific line to occur on an
item
or skill
For example
How to have a pacific point cost to occur when unit steps
If not I will try to find another way . Ron
