We use a stoplight at work and it works super well. I was going to suggest
the same thing. Good idea, Bill!

I'm with you Bill! Hence me offering to join the board to help execute
things like this.
I haven't heard anything back yet, so we will see.

Board & Owners:
Communication was a recurring theme at this month's HOA meeting. It seems
a lot of owners are getting frustrated discussing the same issues month
after month, year after year with seemingly little progress or action. But
people are equally frustrated with a lack of communication from the board,
which is sometimes translated into "lack of transparency."
Someone suggested going from bimonthly meetings to monthly meetings, and
I'm fairly neutral on that. As one board member pointed out, they are
already working together on a weekly, if not daily basis, not just
bimonthly, and have other vocations besides the board.
I would suggest at the very least a communication from someone on the
board to owners on a monthly basis to promote transparency - something
beyond (and more frequent than) bimonthly meeting minutes. What's been
accomplished; what's being worked on; what's on the back burner - and why.
And while the meeting minutes do this to some degree, most of us today are
more visual/graphic oriented. Something quick and to the point would be a
more effective/efficient mode for a monthly update - not to take the place
of meeting minutes, but another tool for interim updates.
I found an example online of a simple communication tool (Stoplight
Report) that might fit our needs for a monthly update, and would go a long
way in keeping owners informed. I realize the contents of the actual
example don't apply to us, but you get the idea.
But whether something like this graphic is used or a written narrative
instead, my takeaway from this month's meeting is that many owners want
more involvement and more communication with (and from) the board and
amongst themselves.
