Hi Chris, Keith here in Amherst, NY

That's a good description of the solar flare noise I have been hearing. A lot stronger than the stuff I noted back earlier this morning, but in the sane class

I have been sitting next to the rig off and on all morning tuned to 10
meter PSK since that has been the first thing heard the last few
mornings. The S meter has been sitting on zero the entire morning with
no signs of propagation.

At about 1450z the noise level suddenly "whooshed" to about S7 and
pretty much blanked out the PSK waterfall. After about 30 or 45 seconds
the noise dropped back to about S1 and 2 South American stations appeared.

2 minutes later, back to S0 and no stations.

What phenomenon did I just experience? Meteor? CME?
