I bought a copy of it at the Ilam Bookstore in Canterbury University.
I read it a while back so my comments here are what I still recall of
that reading.
The play is mostly told from the scottish housekeeper's point of view.
She clearly dislikes Juliet and is portrayed as visiting them in prison
and getting them to reconsider their faith as well as playing one against
the other.
The play also alludes to the girls prostituting themselves (for the money
to go to America) and trying to "Break all 10 commandements". (Juliet
mentions her mother will handle adultery).
Michelanne Foster is reportedly steamed at Peter and Fran (who did catch
the play in the course of their research): she was hoping to turn the
play into a movie.
I found it a tad naive. Ms. Foster is an American who has moved to N-Z
and there are a few sociological complexities about the case which seem
to elude her.
Still, it remains a decent play and is a better read than some of the
other "true crime" retellings of the case.
