I have no objection to the overall strategic goals, etc. (I hate strategic goals, etc). However, I don’t think it’s a good idea to have members only bird walks. I think that’s more likely to defeat our overall objectives (getting people interested in birds, conserving/improving bird habitats). Does it really matter whether they “join” HCAS?!
We dropped monthly meetings because 1) only the board members were coming, despite the interesting topics 2) we had no one to plan monthly meetings. Has anything changed? (Even the annual picnic, which offers food, doesn’t get much attendance) 
There’s no mention of bird-a-thon as a way to attract/interest people. And, to me, that would be ok to be “members-only”
