Howdy,This is to inform everyone that I am in the process of organizing a Haiku presence at the upcoming SCaLE 6x expo to be held in Los Angeles on February 9 and 10, 2008.
*** Goals ***The goal of Haiku's presence at SCaLE is to increase the visibility of the project in the open source world. To that end, we will try to get a Haiku booth, a speaker slot and one or more Birds of a Feather (BoF) slots.
*** Current status ***I have applied for a Haiku booth, as well as for a speaker slot for Bruno "BGA" Albuquerque. If and when a call for BoFs is made, I will pursue one or more slots for Haiku based on our needs.
*** Call for help ***Volunteers who would like to help with this initiative in any way are needed. You can help by, for example:
* Manning the booth (even a few hours help) * Bringing hardware that runs Haiku for demo purposes * Creating and/or printing promotional material and/or Haiku merchandise * Giving a Haiku-related BoF presentation * Hanging out at the Haiku booth and cheer us up :) Needless to say, any other ideas on how to help out are also welcome. *** What is SCaLE? ***SCaLE is the Southern California Linux Expo, an event currently focused on open source in general. You can find more information about SCaLE here:
http://www.socallinuxexpo.orgHaiku was at SCaLE 5x early this year (we had a booth and gave two BoFs), and we really had a lot of fun. You can get a glimpse at what it looked like from this photo gallery:

All in all, SCaLE is a great event to give more visibility to Haiku; attendance at SCaLE 5x (held in Feb. 2007) was around 1300 people, including attendees, speakers, and the press. More importantly, it's also a lot of fun. :)
Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers, Koki
