I assume that this is an IRQ sharing problem between USB and HDA - but I haven't investigated deeply enough to be sure. When I did start investigating it, binary-searching versions to find out which caused it - that's when I realized that warm vs cold boot seemed to affect the success/failure, and I then realized all my testing had been tainted and I would need to start over. - Urias
