Hi,

to those German Haikuvians that might be involved in Haiku, Inc. (or anyone else with insight in the topic): Is there a possibility to make standing orders ("Dauerauftrag") to Haiku, Inc.? If not, how about setting up a European Haiku account for this purpose? Of course this somehow would also work with PayPal, but as I understand there are are fees involved, at least for Haiku, Inc. - but I might be wrong.

Greetings,
Finn

Good morning!

This isn't a negative email, promise :-). More of a "toot our own horn".

I saw this thread over at Mesa:
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2020-February/224165.html

The freedesktop.org folks are running into *massive* costs to build and maintain their
CI/CD infrastructure at "a cloud provider". They're up to $75,000 USD a year and expect to
reach $90,000 USD a year at their current rate.

https://www.haiku-inc.org/docs/haiku_inc-financial-report-2018.pdf

Haiku, Inc. and our sysadmin team has been maintaining all of our Infrastructure for roughly
~ $3,000 USD in 2018. We should continue to operate in this range at less than $5,000 / a year
for the foreseeable future.

This Infrastructure money goes to:

* Running Gerrit/git, our bug trackers
* Running haikudepot
* Running our forums
* Running pootle translation servers
* Serving our package repositories (haiku, haikuports)
* Running our CI/CD build servers for an entire operating system.
* Running our CI/CD haikuports build servers for "all of our ports" (including Mesa ;-))

The reason we maintain a lower cost is due to a lot of hard work + careful cost balancing from
everyone on the sysadmin team (Jessicah, Nielx, pulkomandy, waddlesplash, myself) as
well as those who maintain builders at their homes (mmlr, geist, myself). We also have an
awesome network of mirror providers when we do releases.

I hope Freedesktop can sort our their financial issues.

Your donations (no matter the size) make a *massive* impact to Haiku and help us continue
development at a steady clip.

Thank you for your continued support!
