I think you're being overly dramatic here.
Haiku has visually diverted from BeOS a long time ago (it looks much
better for it). It doesn't use BeOS' original font, uses vector
graphics, slight gradients in menu bars and title tabs, smaller window
borders, different buttons and checkmarks, different tab view,
expanders in the Deskbar, optional 32 bit icons in list mode... etc.
I agree Noto isn't perfect, it looks better on other platforms. Since
users are bound to customize their Haiku by using their favourite
font, we should see it as chance to improve Haiku's rendering. Finding
the one font that doesn't look crappy under Haiku is hiding the "bug".
And when i say "we" above, I mean all you master coders... :)
