This leads into aldeck's thread, but it's different enough to justify a seprate thread ... There may be issues with selling the codebase -- without even touching the TM issues. Scottmc pointed out some code licenses that have non-commercial clauses*1. Dealing with this is a more important issue, as it applies to even a non-TM product. I don't see the NPO being responsible for resolving this. For instance, if Haiku, Inc. received permission to sell a commercial product with that non-commercial code, I doubt that we would be able to extend that permission to other vendors. Some days after that thread, I sent Dane an email off-list, letting him know that those licenses may pose an issue for him. This didn't fix anything, but at least one company that has expressed interest and a willingness to help the Project knows about it. Other than that, I haven't looked into this.
