I don't know Waddlesplash other than through his contributions to the forum,
but I support the idea in principle, and am happy that those who do know him
are keen to get him on board.
As for whether he works as a contractor or as a direct employee, in many
countries a direct employee will be entitled to statutory rights in addition to
those that would be enjoyed as a contractor. How it works in America, I don't
know, but somebody needs to investigate this aspect.
Who would he report to?
What would be grounds for termination (whether employed directly or not)?
What is the best way to handle health insurance?
What other benefits would he be entitled to? Obviously he will need holidays.
Anything else?
I could deal with most of these questions if he was being employed in the UK,
but we need somebody familiar with employment law and practice in the USA to
advise.
If he was prepared to let us see his existing contract (salary and personal
details redacted of course) it might provide a useful starting point.
Anyway, it's a great idea.
Regards
John Forbes

able; and Haiku, Inc. not apparently having found anyone else (or sent
out a general call) in the interim, here is my concrete proposal.
