sorry about answering at the top,

The board is a D865 PERL. I thought there was an 'i' in there for Intel.
------------------
 Intel® 865PE chipset consisting of:

Intel® 82865PE Memory Controller Hub (MCH) with Accelerated Hub Architecture
(AHA) bus
Intel® 82801ER I/O Controller Hub (ICH5R) supporting Intel® RAID Technology or
Intel® 82801EB I/O Controller Hub (ICH5)
 Firmware Hub (FWH)
------------------
Audio:

• Intel 865PE chipset (AC ’97)
• Analog Devices Inc. codec
------------------
Manufacturing Options:

• Flexible 6-Channel Audio with Jack Sensing, SoundMAX 4 XL featuring Enumeration
and Sensing Process (ESP)
• 6-channel digital audio

I found this information online at:
http://grox.net/misc/dox/d865perl/D865PERL-reference.guide.pdf

The package I used from Haikuware was:

ICH AC97 Driver
http://haikuware.com/directory/view-details/drivers/audio/ich-ac97-driver

thanks,

g.

where would the source code for the audio drivers be found?

i ask because i have an intel i865PERL motherboard, and i get no
sound.

Is this a motherboard with HDA (High-definition Audio) support?

i tried a driver solution on haikuware but it didn't work.

Was that the OpenSound package or something else?

HTH,

Ithamar.
