I got interested in that HaikuDepot ticket you mentioned in response to
my
introductory email, but after I built it on gcc2h using the jam command,
I
get a crash when it tries to connect to the repository.  I did not change
...

I've seen this too; it seems to happen on fresh install / deletion of
HaikuDepot settings and cache files. The second and all subsequent startups
work. I didn't try to reproduce very extensively though, or investigate at
all.

It is however good to mention you have seen it as well.  I added a ticket [1] 
and will look into it if I can get some time.  David; does it work for you on 
the second run?
