Hi,
I will tell the thing here: I think we should take the general design of
the media_kit but rewrite it from scratch.
You each time come in and say that media_kit is perfect,
BMediaEventLooper is the best and so on.
Now there are only two possibilities:
a) I am completely wrong.
b) You are completely wrong.
Please consider the possibility that you confuse me with someone else. I
don't remember discussing these things with you, and I am pretty sure
that I have no opionion on BMediaEventLooper. In general, I find the
Media Kit API too involved and fragile as a result. I have tried to work
with it in applications, I've done my best working on the ffmpeg plugin
and Media Player, but I faced many issues and many things were not
intuitive. So I cannot imagine I ever opposed the idea of designing a
new MediaKit.
OK, I have misunderstood your opinion then, so it is a my fault. I
interpreted your memset questioning like you wanted to keep the API as is.
However, even if I mentioned (in ml, irc, commit messages) that I wanted to
discuss my plans about the BMediaClient, I never received any comment from
anyone. I have probably interpreted that silence and other things in the
bad way. However, I think the community has really a problem of being
somewhat silent.
For example I commented in ml about the failed GSoC student, now I am not
going to tell it's mentors they have to do that, but I think we could have
at least said to this guy to go ahead and that we would have supported him
if he wanted to continue his work.
