For any lurkers, the process to get Haiku running in GCE would be:
* Install Haiku to a VMDK disk
* Copy the VMDK disk to a Google Storage bucket
* Import the disk image as an image
* Create a machine image
* Create a new VM with the machine image
* make sure to enable a graphics device
