Generally speaking, you need to be using kw lasers for etching metal.
There are some exceptions (ex: Trotec) that etch with 50-100W, but they
use specialty lasers, expensive glass, air cooling, etc.
One thing you can do with metal, tho, is powder coat it then etch off
the powder coating. That's how I made this:
