I have one of these that I was going to throw out if he wants to test it out. I doubt it will work on plastic though because I believe it can only use conductive material. I've heard nothing but bad things about ColdHeat, but it's been so long since I've used mine that I can't remember how it performed. Let me know if you want me to bring it to the shop. - Jeremy 717-497-9253 @jherrm <http://twitter.com/jherrm> linkedin.com/in/jherrm facebook.com/herrman On Fri, Jun 1, 2012 at 10:37 AM, Laura McCarthy <ljmccarthy@xxxxxxxxx>wrote: > Has anyone ever used this ColdHeat soldering iron before? > http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000RWCRAM > > My friend is interested in it for working on modding action figures - > he heard it would get to a good temperature to just melt plastic a > little so he could remove a part without melting/burning it > completely. > > The internet doesn't like it because it doesn't get hot enough to do > any actual soldering. > > I figured I would ask the experts if you guys had any other ideas for > slightly melting plastic. > > Thanks, > > Laura > >
