I just signed up for BE and will no longer fill my compost bins. Anyone know
how to dispose of bulky plastic used compost bins?

The Nichols St Neighborhood garden stopped composting with the plastic
turning ones bec they attracted rats. Black Earth is coming and we love them.
Sign up if you dont already use them.

The old fashioned rat traps work. Even if it might seem disgusting to have
to clear away a dead rat, it avoids the important concern that Glorian
raises. A couple of years ago, before we got a steel, enclosed composter, we
noticed a hole gnawed in our plastic one. I put a trap in there and caught a
rat. It was no big deal. I wonder whether pest control people give you the
choice of poison or traps?

Thank you, Sam, for calling pest control.
Please note that it is important not to use poison to kill the rats.
Birds, like owls or hawks, will eat the weakened rat, and then die from the
poison. There was just a case the Globe reported about a Great Horned owl
with babies in the nest. The owl was killed by poisoned rats.

Hi all,
I saw a large rat outside our garage over the weekend. I'll call pest
control but has anyone else seen rats with the construction on Marshall
Street?
