[guispeak] Converting text to audio.

Hello list.
I am looking for a program to convert text such as word documents or pdf
to synthetic speech. I wish to be able to create mp3 files in the
process. I know there are many such programs such as text allowed but I
don't know which one is most usable by a screen reader.
Any experience is very much appreciated.
