We were just told the dof should have id at all times, and I'm sure we were told not to leave a half check on. I've done so on some of my dogs in thepast but just choose to take it off. And yes, if they are fitted correctly they shouldt get too tight.

Now, we were told to leave the half check on in the house. I actually don'tthink it can become caught on anything, or it could, but due to the nature of the design, it can't go any tighter than a normal collar. Dogs can getcaught on an ordinary play collar. Some friends of ours' dog did this oncein thick bushes in a forest. We were calling him and he was not coming. Finally my son found him stuck by his collar to brambles, and he had breathing difficulties, was very wheezy, for a long time afterwards, where he had tried to pull away and it had pressed on his windpipe. Luckily he was fine. Also, my dog's half check is loose enough that if he did get it caught, he could probably pull his head out of it anyhow. I think becausethe chain bit is like a kind of circle, it just keeps going round and roundrather than getting any tighter if you know what I mean? Our halfchecks do up and undo via a quick release clip, as do the play collars, sowe don't have to put it over their heads. I just always want my dogs to be recognised as belonging to someone so would never dream of leavingtheir collars off. I don't suppose it matters much which one you have on,as long as it is something.
